If you're vacationing in Oberstdorf, you absolutely must visit the ski flying hill. It's one of only five ski flying hills in the world and is beautifully situated in the idyllic Stillach Valley. The hill was built by ski flyers Heini Klopfer and two colleagues, who also helped popularize this type of winter sport in Oberstdorf. The modern funicular railway takes you up to the top of the ski jump tower, where you'll have a breathtaking view of Lake Freiberg and the surrounding mountains.
Tip: Afterwards, the approximately one-hour hike around Lake Freiberg is well worth it before taking the elevator back down to the valley.
A hike is a must during a holiday in the Allgäu region. If you're up for a bit of a challenge, then this mountain tour is just the thing for you! It's one of the most beautiful hikes in the Kleinwalsertal valley and starts at the Walmendingerhorn. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views.
